NEURODIVERGENT / FUNKIS CULTURAL WORKERS FORUM
THE GROUP IS NEW, OPEN AND FRIENDLY
Neurodivergent/Funkis Cultural Workers Forum is a monthly open meeting offering space to discuss whatever might be on your mind as a neurodivergent/funkis person working in the arts. The meetings are facilitated by artist and curator Aidan Moesby. There is no restriction on art form or practice – like many marginalised groups, we are stronger together!
The group is new, open and friendly. The meetings are held in UKS’ kitchen outside of opening hours, so we have the house to ourselves. We start off by introducing ourselves and each person says something they feel comfortable sharing – it can be just your name, why you’re here, how you’re feeling, what you do or something else.
We don’t have a set theme for this meeting, but a common theme may emerge during the introductions, which we can then delve into. In the last two meetings we have talked about what it means to identify as neurodivergent/funkis, diagnosis and managing personal and work life. We end our meetings with suggestions for topics for the next meeting and have a social gathering at the bar next door, if that’s your thing.
The forum is a democratic, open, safe(r) space with collective care at its heart. With this initiative we want to create a caring community to discuss barriers and lived experiences and, with time, perhaps also begin conversations and actions for change. You are all most welcome to join!
