100 YEARS OF CONVIVIALITY
PUBLICATION: KVISTEN PÅ GRENEN, GRENEN PÅ TREET
As a part of UKS’ 100th anniversary program 100 YEARS OF CONVIVIALITY , we’re nearing the end of a two-year production period for the first comprehensive publication about UKS’ history. The publication is titled Kvisten på grenen, grenen på treet: Unge Kunstneres Samfund 100 år and is edited by Nina M. Schjønsby and Halvor Haugen and designed by Ian Brown.
The publication consists of five art historical texts, each covering two decades, three artistic contributions, and four shorter texts focusing on specific topics.
The five main texts are written by Øystein Sjåstad (art historian), Frode Sandvik (curator), Victoria Durnak (artist and writer), Marit Paasche (art historian), and Sara R. Yazdani (art historian).
The artistic contributions are made by artists Geir Tore Holm & Søssa Jørgensen, Siri Hjorth & Sebastian Kjølaas, and Wendimagegn Belete.
The shorter contributions are written by Ana Maria Bresciani (curator and art historian), Maria Horvei (art historian and editor), Jan Verwoert (writer), and previous UKS Director Rhea Dall.
In addition to these texts, UKS’ Chair, Steffen Håndlykken, and the board contributes with a text, and the book unfolds an impressive visual archive of UKS’ first 100 years.
The book will be launched during a seminar at Oslo’s new main library, Deichman Bjørvika on UKS’ 100th birthday, 28 October 2021. Selected stories from the book will be posted online on the UKS website and in our newsletter—stay tuned.
NB: The book will only be available in Norwegian.
