FAMILY WORKSHOP
BJØRKEHAGEN

A family workshop about where our food comes from and how to take care of what we have.

With
Erik Love Aronsson and Future in our hands (Note: the event is spoken in Norwegian).

How did food make it to the table in the old days, and where does it come from now? Together, we will explore, create, taste, smell, carve, travel back in time, and learn more about the food we eat – and throw away.

In Bjørkehagen, you will meet artist Erik Love Aronsson, who invites you back to his grandfather’s time. We invite you to explore how old craft traditions can be connected to our modern era. In the workshop, we will use materials from nature, recycle what is often discarded, and create tools that link the past and present. You will experience how your own handmade creations can be transformed into a shelf-ready product, when illuminated by fluorescent white light and plastic film. Join us, create and discover a new way of seeing the world!

Future in our hands takes us further into the present. Did you know that we waste around 450,000 tons of food every year in Norway? We buy food without thinking about where it comes from or what it takes for it to reach us. At this workshop, you will participate in an exciting, interactive travel story about the banana – from seed to smoothie. Through hands-on cooking, you will learn about the time, effort and journey behind our food while developing your senses. We will explore flavours, colours and the joy of creating something we can eat together.
