#33 HOW TO PRACTICE?
SARA-LOVISE ASK EWERTSON AT BO

Considering collegial exchange, informal learning and attempts at friendship as a fundamental part of our remit, UKS is pleased to present HOW TO PRACTICE?, our popular walk-in workshop! Rotating local and international practitioners in the cultural field teach their particular version of this essential question, serving up their tricks and toolboxes, fears and desires, Excel sheets or yoga positions as UKS serves free coffee.

Starting off the workweek on occasional Mondays at 10am, this season’s HOW TO PRACTICE? is kindly hosted by artist-run gallery Hulias, Kunstnerforbundet and BO – Billedkunstnerne i Oslo, while UKS’ new location is closed for renovation.

#33 HOW TO PRACTICE? features artist SARA-LOVISE ASK EWERTSON.

Relocating to Oslo just before the onset of the global pandemic, artist Sara-Lovise Ask Ewertson is exceptionally pleased to be showing work at BO and later her solo show at SOFT gallery. To support her artistic practice, Ewertson joined the installation team at the Astrup Fearnley Museum and Kunstnernes Hus, where she has worked on the installation of multiple Høstutstillinger and UKS’ 100th anniversary exhibition in 2021. Even though these jobs initially were to support her financially, her interest in installing exhibitions has merged into her artistic practice and become an ambitious goal in itself.

For the 33rd edition of HOW TO PRACTICE?, she shares behind-the-scenes stories from a male-dominated environment and wonders why she doesn’t meet more female installers in the Oslo art scene.

Sara-Lovise Ask Ewertson (b. 1991, SE) lives and works in Oslo. Ewertson’s practice has its foundations in fashion, and her works are developed from a clothing perspective that progresses into sculptural installations and digital textiles.
