MEET UKS’ INTERIM DIRECTORS!
From September 2023 to May 2024, while Director Miriam Wistreich is on parental leave, UKS will be steered by Kaja Breckan as Interim Administrative Director and Live Drønen as Interim Artistic Director.

Live Drønen is a writer and curator based in Oslo. She holds an MA in Contemporary Art Theory from Goldsmiths and has a background in journalism and media studies. Her work has appeared in outlets such as Artforum, Texte zur Kunst, Kunstkritikk and Various Artists. She was co-founder and curator of the screening format Apartment 75 in London (2021–22) and has previously served as Communications Officer and Exhibition Coordinator at UKS (2018–20). For Arctic Moving Image & Film Festival 2023 she is curating an off-site exhibition with Beth von Undall and Sue de Beer.
Kaja Breckan has been a part of UKS’ core team since 2013, holding the position of Office Manager. Simultaneously, she has been working on her MA in Art History at the University of Oslo, where she is researching female representation in UKS’ history between 1921 and 1971. She was previously part of the team initiating Fellesverkstedet in 2010, and has been engaged in Oslo Art Guide in 2013–16. In 2021, Breckan was part of the editorial team of UKS’ 100th anniversary publication ‘Kvisten på grenen, grenen på treet’ (Forlaget Press), and has contributed to making UKS’ vast history an important part of managing its present.
