OFFICIAL LAUNCH: 100 YEARS OF CONVIVIALITY
Our young-hearted society is getting old! On Thursday 2 September from 6pm, we are very excited to invite you all to the launch of 100 YEARS OF CONVIVIALITY—our upcoming 100th anniversary that is to be celebrated with great fanfare in the coming months!
Our recurring social feature, the UKS MINIBAR, will offer celebratory bubbles and some snacks to accompany two conversations, the launch of the anniversary program, and there will be music and mingling.
PROGRAM
- 6pm—conversation: Ana Maria Bresciani, Jeanette Christensen, and Steffen Håndlykken on the whys and wherefores of the first three editions of the UKS biennale in 1996, 1998, and 2001.
- 7pm—conversation: Elina Waage Mikalsen, Magnus Holmen, and Geir Tore Holm on Samisk Kulturuke 1981: Vår jord er vårt liv (Sami Culture Week 1981: Our Earth is Our Life) at UKS.
- 8pm—launch: UKS’ Director Miriam Wistreich and Chair Steffen Håndlykken reveal the program and artist list for 100 YEARS OF CONVIVIALITY.
- Until 10pm: The MINIBAR is open and Kalli plays festive tunes.
The UKS anniversary program consists of three seminars, a new publication on UKS’ 100 years as a union and institution for experimental contemporary art, and a large-scale exhibition opening at Kunstnernes Hus on 12 November. Following the event, the full program will be published on the UKS website.
You can also follow the event from afar! We will stream the two talks and launch here:
