#18 MINIBAR
#KUNSTMETOO—THE WORK CONTINUES

On Saturday, 28 September from 7pm the eighteenth UKS MINIBAR will host a public event concluding a two-day internal seminar organized by #kunstmetoo, a self-initiated group for #metoo in the art field.

#kunstmetoo focuses on creating a space to talk about abuse of power and has since January 2018 worked on gathering information, experiences, and thoughts on #metoo specifically within the art field. With this work in mind the group’s seminar aims to increase competence within our unions on how to handle alert cases. On the evening of the seminar’s final day, #kunstmetoo invites all interested to gather at this UKS MINIBAR, where some of their findings will be presented in a panel discussion open to all attendants.

The self-initiated group behind #kunstmetoo consists of Amber Ablett, Idun Baltzersen, Hanan Benammar, Lona Hansen, Anna Ihle, Camilla Renate Nicolaisen, Humle Isabella Rosenkvist, and Sara Rönnbäck. The seminar is facilitated and hosted by UKS, with Balansekunst, Norske Billedkunstnere (NBK), Transcultural Arts Production (TrAP), and UKS as participating organizations. The program will include workshops led by Balansekunst and TrAP, which aim to discuss and further develop course materials geared towards arts organizations. With this, the participating organizations hope to provide greater support to members and employees in matters that intersect with that of the #metoo movement as well as formulate clear strategies for the continuous work against power abuse within our field.

For this MINIBAR, UKS welcomes you to engage in a public conversation addressing a range of questions, including: What does power abuse in the art field look like? How does one alert unions and organizations on matters of power abuse or harassment? How can intersectional feminism be practiced in organizations? What practical measures can be taken immediately and in the near future? The group will share experiences from their ongoing work, and the seminar days, in an attempt to answer these and any other questions you may have.

The event will be held in English and is free and open to all. UKS’ MINIBAR will be serving spiced apple juice with cinnamon and nutmeg and other non-alcoholic beverages.
